“in June 1822, Udhagamandalam, the headquarters of the present day „The Nilgiris‟ district, was first discovered and built by an English officer named John Sullivan. To commemorate this, a special fund of Rs. 10 crore is being provided for implementation of special projects and conduct of programmes.”
“200 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன், ஜூன், 1822இல் ஜான் சல்லீவன் என்ற ஆங்கிலேய அதிகாரியால் முதன்முதலாகக் கண்டறியப்பட்டு கட்டமைக்கப்பட்டதே இன்றைய நீலகிரி மாவட்டத்தின் தலைமையிடமான உதகை நகரமாகும். இதனை நினைவுகூறும் வகையில் சிறப்புத் திட்டங்களும் நிகழ்ச்சிகளும் மேற்கொள்ள 10 கோடி ரூபாய் சிறப்பு நிதி வழங்கப்படுகிறது.”
