“மீனவர்களின் நலனைப் பேணவும், மீன்பிடிப்பிற்கான உட்கட்டமைப்பு வசதிகளை மேம்படுத்தவும், முன்னெப்போதும் இல்லாத அளவிற்கு மீன்வளத் துறையில் பெரிய முதலீடுகளை அரசு செய்து வருகிறது. மீன்பிடிதி தடைக்காலத்தில் உதவித்தொகை வழங்குவதற்காகவும், மீனவர்களுக்கான சேமிப்புத் திட்டத்திற்காகவும், சிறப்பு உதவித் தொகை வழங்குவதற்காகவும் 2020-21 ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான வரவு-செலவுத் திட்ட மதிப்பீடுகளில் 298.12 கோடி ரூபாய் நிதி ஒதுக்கீடு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. ஆழ்கடலில் மீன்பிடிக்கச் செல்லும் மீனவர்களை தொடர்பு கொள்ளவும், கண்காணிக்கவும் இந்திய விண்வெளி ஆய்வு மையம் (50) டிரான்ஸ்பாண்டர் கருவிகளை உருவாக்கியுள்ளது. தமிழ்நாட்டில் உள்ள மீன்பிடிவிசைப் படகுகளில் ஏற்கெனவே 507 டிரான்ஸ்பாண்டர்கள் பொருத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன. மேலும், 4,997 மீன்பிடி விசைப்படகுகளில் 18 கோடி ரூபாய் செலவில் டிரான்ஸ்பாண்டர்கள் பொருத்தப்படும் பாக் வளைகுடா பகுதி மீனவர்களுக்கான, 2,000 இழுவலை மீன்பிடிப் படகுகளை ஆழ்கடல் மீன்பிடிப் படகுகளாக மாற்றிடும் சிறப்புத் திட்டம் 1600 கோடி ரூபாய் செலவில் செயல்படுத்தப்பட்டு வருகிறது. இதன் முதற்கட்டமாக, 500 தூண்டில் மற்றும் செவுள் வலையுடன் கூடிய ஆழ்கடல் சூரை மீன்பிடிப் படகுகள் கட்டப்பட்டு வருகின்றன.”
