“To reduce the demand on petroleum based products and to help reduce environmental pollution, mechanics who currently service fossil-fuel-based vehicles, will be trained in the maintenance of electric vehicles and batteries, enabling them to service it well. Over the period of next five years, 22,500 persons, including 12,500 mechanics currently servicing fossil-fuel-based vehicles, will benefit under this scheme. An amount of Rs.3 crore has been allocated for this scheme in the current financial year.”
