“தமிழ்நாட்டில் தற்போது 6.53 லட்சம் ஒய்வூதியதாரர்கள் உள்ளனர். இவர்கள் மூத்த குடிமக்களாக இருப்பதைக் கருத்தில் கொண்டு அவர்களின் நலனில் அரசு சிறப்பு அக்கறை எடுத்து வருகிறது. ஓய்வூதியதாரர்களுக்கு 2012-2013 ஆம் ஆண்டில் 13,023.50 கோடி ரூபாய் நிதி ஒதுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. ஒரு சிறப்பினமாக, தமிழ்நாடு ஓய்வூதியதாரர் குடும்ப பாதுகாப்பு நிதித் திட்டத்தின் கீழ் ஓய்வூுதியதாரர் இறக்கும் போது வழங்கப்படும் நிதி உதவி 25,000 ரூபாயிலிருந்து 35,000 ரூபாயாக உயர்த்தி வழங்கப்படும். இதனால் அரசுக்கு ஆண்டுதோறும் பத்து கோடி ரூபாய் கூடுதல் செலவினம் ஏற்படும். பத்திரிக்கையாளர் நலன்”
