“தகவல் தொழில்நுட்ப வளர்ச்சியினால் இணையதளம் மூலமாக நடைபெறும் குற்றங்கள் (Cyber crimes) பெருகிவருகின்றன. மாண்புமிகு முதலமைச்சர் அவர்களின் முந்தைய ஆட்சிக் காலத்தில்தான் சென்னை மாநகரில் சைபர் குற்றப்பிரிவுகள் தொடங்கப்பட்டன. பின்னர் இப்பிரிவுகள் சென்னை புறநகர், கோயம்புத்தூர் மதுரை, திருச்சி மாநகரங்களில் தொடங்கப்பட்டன. சைபர் குற்றங்களை திறம்படத் தடுக்க சேலத்திலும், திருநெல்வேலியிலும் சைபர் குற்றப்பிரிவுகள் தொடங்கப்படும். சைபர் தடயவியல் சோதனைக்கூடங்கள், சென்னை மாநகர காவல், குற்றப்பிரிவு புலனாய்வுத் துறை ஆகிய இடங்களில் மட்டுமே உள்ளன. இத்தகு சோதனைக்கூடங்கள் சேலம், திருநெல்வேலி உள்ளிட்ட பிற ஆறு மாநகரங்களிலும் ஏற்படுத்தப்படும்.”
